European Physical Society
The ESPM-17 is recongnised by the European Physical Society (EPS) as an "Europhysics Conference". As such, the EPS makes funds available for a limited number of conference grants, directly to organisers of EPS Europhysics Conferences, to allow the participation of young scientists in meetings.
On the occasion of ESPM-17 the EPS will provide the following prizes:
- One "EPS Poster Prize" (200 EUR) given to a PhD student who prepared the Poster;
- Two "EPS Conference Grants" (350 EUR) given to post-docs within 6 years from their PhD;
- One "EPS Invited Speaker Grant" (500 EUR) given to a selected invited speaker.
The ESPD Board decided to award the European Physical Society (EPS) as follows:
- EPS Poster Prize: Samantha Cook "Observational Analysis of Line Formation Heights in the Flaring Chromosphere"
- EPS Conference Grants: Marta Gracia Rivas "Onset of penumbra formation" & Jose Ivan Campos Rozo "Relation between Magnetic field and Convective Cells Morphology"
- EPS Invited Speaker Grant: Hannah Schunker "The role of Convection during Active Region Emergence"
Solar Physics (Springer Nature)
Solar Physics is a leading journal publishing comprehensive research on the Sun. On the occasion of ESPM-17, three awards for the "Best Presentations" will be sponsored by Solar Physics (Springer Nature).
Following the ranking carried out by members of SOC, LOC and senior researchers participating at the recent ESPM17 meeting we are happy to announce that the winners of the Solar Physics “Best presentation” awards are:
- 1st prize: Laura Hayes (ESA): High-Resolution Observations from the Solar Orbiter Major Flare SOOP Campaign: Insights from X-ray and Fast Cadence EUV Observations of Solar Flares
- 2nd prize: Nicolina Chrysaphi (LPP, Sorbonne University, France): The angular dependence of rise and decay times of solar radio bursts using multi-spacecraft observations
- 3rd prize: Tibor Torok (Predictive Science, USA): Solar Eruptions Triggered by Flux Emergence Below or Near a Coronal Flux Rope
Congratulations to all our prize winners!
