All the events listed below are included in the ESPM-17 registration fee.
Welcome reception - Sunday 8th
The welcome reception will be held at the "Palazzina Marone Cinzano", via Via Vela, 17, Torino (the conference venue). The welcome reception will start around 6 PM and will end around 8 PM.
Social excursions - Wednesday 11th
Wednesday afternoon will be dedicated to social excursions, with a choice between 7 different possibilities listed below. Limited places are available for each of the proposed excursions, so it is advisable to book in advance by registering for the meeting.
All the excursions will start approximately at 2:30 PM and will last 5 hours.
Visit to the wine production region in Barolo
Guided tour of the Barolo Castle, located at the heart of the Barolo wine production region, and the "Bric Cienciurio" wine production estate, followed by tasting of local wines. The village is located at about 70-80 km from Turin and will be reached by bus (nearly one hour trip one way).
Visit to the "La Venaria Reale" Palace
Guided tour of the Royal Palace of Venaria, with a visit to the park and the Venaria Reale village. The tour will include the noble floor with the famous "Sala di Diana", and the gardens. The village is located at about 12-13 km from Turin and will be reached by bus (nearly 30 min. trip one way).
Visit to the "Palazzina di Caccia" (Hunting Lodge) in Stupinigi
Guided tour of the "Palazzina di Caccia" (Hunting Lodge) in Stupinigi, one of Piedmont’s most prestigious Savoy Residences. The tour includes the "Scuderia Juvarriana" (the stables), the library, and the royal apartments. The place is located at about 10 km from Turin and will be reached by bus (nearly 20 min. trip one way).
Visit to the Thales Alenia Space and ALTEC Industries
Guided tour of the facilities in Thales Alenia Space and ALTEC industries. The visit will include the ExoMars Integration Room, Euclid, and Cygnus Production Room (Thales), the Rocc-Rover Operations Control Centre and ExoMars Mission control Room (ALTEC). Thales Alenia Space and ALTEC are located in Turin suburbs and will be reached by bus (nearly 30 min. trip one way).
Visit to the Infini.TO Museum & Planetarium
Guided tour of the Planetarium of Turin (Infini.TO), located nearby the INAF - Astrophysical Observatory of Turin, at the top of the hill next to the city. The tour includes the interactive Astronomy and Space Museum and a projection show in the Digital Planetarium. This excursion is highly recommended to families with children and kids. Infini.TO will be reached by bus (nearly 20 min. trip one way).
Visit to the National Automobile Museum & Lingotto District
Guided tour of the Lingotto District in Turin, once home to the historic FIAT factory and today an iconic district of Auto, Design, and Food & Wine. The tour will include the visit to the National Automobile Museum, to Eataly, where the first Carpano Vermouth factory was established, to the curious Vermouth Museum, to GreenPea, the first green retail park in the world, and it will end with a glass of prosecco on the Otium rooftop, from which to enjoy a splendid view of the town. The Lingotto district can be easily reached by public means from the conference venue.
City Sightseeing tour and visit to the National Museum of Cinema
Tour of Turin's downtown and the main attractions of the city comfortably seated on the red panoramic bus of the City Sightseeing tour company. The tour will end with a guided visit to the National Museum of Cinema, unique in its kind, hosted inside the most famous and iconic (and tallest) monument in the city, the "Mole Antonelliana". Turin downtown can be easily reached by public means from the conference venue.
Social dinner - Thursday 12th
The ESPM-17 social dinner will be held at the Caprera Restaurant in Corso Moncalieri, 22, Torino, a historical restaurant located in the city centre and along the Po river (see here for the precise location).
