Description

The Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer is a joint NASA-ASI Small Explorer mission launched on December 9th 2021 and dedicated to angular-, time- and energy-resolved X-ray polarimetry in the 2-8 keV energy range. The observatory features three identical telescopes, with grazing-incidence mirrors built at NASA-MSFC and focal plane polarimeters based on the Gas Pixel Detector design provided by Italy. Currenlty, IXPE is in Science Observation phase: in this talk, I will present the mission, its science objectives and avaiable preliminary results.
