A scientific guide to Gaia Astrophysical Parameters

The Gaia mission is revolutionizing Galactic astrophysics in many ways and its Data Release 3 (June 2022) released to the community a tremendous amount of data. The Coordination Unit 8 (CU8) is responsible to infer the Astrophysical Parameters of the sources using only Gaia observables, and for this purpose CU8 developed APSIS, a set of software modules, each devoted to a specific purpose. CU8 people and work are briefly presented at this link 

Each APSIS module published a set of its outputs in DR3, with the name of the module encoded in the Gaia archive parameter itself. Many of these products considerably overlap in the parameter space. How to select the best parameter set? How to best use this APs? The simpler, but not very helpful, answer is: "It depends on your purpose"  

To help the community to better answer to these questions, CU8 will: 

• hold a series of webinars, where each module will separately describe the chosen methods and assumptions, the list of published products, their strengths and weaknesses, and finally provide guidelines to the scientific use of its output.
• a Q&A session after each webinar with the speaker, accessible only upon registration, with a limited number of participants to ease the discussion. Questions can be submitted in advance through the registration form.
