Description

The Historical Museum of Physics and Enrico Fermi Study and Research Center has developed an educational programme for primary school pupils focused on the concept of energy, a topic often subject to misconception. The initiative combines classroom based experimental activities with a visit to the Via Panisperna museum, where installations and historical materials introduce the figure of Fermi, the atom, and nuclear fission. The first phase includes simple experiments on energy transformations and small group work supported by a laboratory booklet. The second phase employs interactive activities and a game simulating the chain reaction. Anonymous pre and post tests allow for an evaluation of the programme’s effectiveness. The results show that a practical and contextualised approach can significantly improve children’s understanding of energy.
