Inaugural Session of the Congress and Homage to Giuseppe Piazzi

On 14 September at 5:30 p.m., the historic Sala dei Baroni at Castel Nuovo (Maschio Angioino) will host the inaugural session of the SISFA Congress. This opening event will simultaneously serve as a special ceremony to celebrate the bicentennial of Giuseppe Piazzi, the renowned astronomer who passed away in Naples on 22 July 1826.

The ceremony will honor the presence of city authorities and esteemed representatives from the key institutions supporting and endorsing the congress.

On this special occasion, a dedicated exhibition will display messages from academies, scientific societies, universities, and cities that played a key role in the astronomer's life and career.
