Description
The current and planned scenario of the observational capabilities available to the X-ray scientific
community in the foreeseable future is far from ideal, with ambitious candidate X-ray missions recently not
selected for further developments both in Europe and the US. Yet, new ideas and developments are in place
from Europe to China to India and beyond, trying to design a better observational future. In this talk I
will review the current status and the perspectives for future X-ray missions, expected to improve our
understanding of the many tones of accretion.
