Description
The presentation recalls Giuseppe Piazzi, beginning with his life and educational background, and then examining his astronomical research in Palermo, where he produced highly valuable star catalogues and earned recognition at the European level. His role in Naples is then explored, both as an astronomer and as the visionary behind the Capodimonte Observatory, as well as President of the Royal Academy of Sciences, which later became today’s National Society of Sciences, Letters and Arts in Naples.
Finally, the scientific legacy left by Piazzi is discussed.
