Description
The SPHEREx studies of the extragalactic background light are designed to probe anisotropies on scales between 5 and 20 arcminutes. They are therefore susceptible to any noise with power on those scales. Traditional raster scan H2RG readout schemes place power from 1/f drifts directly in this spatial signal band given the SPHEREx plate scale. We therefore have developed an alternate readout scheme called row chopping that modulates the angular scales which 1/f noise manifest on. In this talk, I’ll walk through the SPHEREx readout implementation and detail how row chopping improved performance.
