The event will be held at the Il Principe Hotel, a 4-star hotel that is housed in an elegant palace recently renovated and located on the Steps of Via Alessi. Set like a jewel between Via Etnea and Via Crociferi, just in the heart of the city, the hotel provides outstanding testimony to Sicilian architecture, with many buildings declared by 'UNESCO' as world heritage sites just a few steps away.
How to get there?
Catania city center, where the conference venue is located, is easily accessible from its international airport (Catania Fontanarossa, CTA). Direct connections are offered by a frequent city bus service (line name: ALIBUS). Taxis are also available at the airport, generally for a fare of around 20 Eur.
Monastero dei Benedettini
The Monastero dei Benedettini is the oldest and most prestigious building of the University of Catania, located in the historical center. The Monastery is a late baroque monument and one of the biggest Benedictine monastery in Europe. The construction of the building started in 1500 and has continued until today, it is an example of architectonical integration of different styles through different epochs: you can find a roman house, the cloisters and a roof garden. The monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it hosts the Department of Humanities of the University of Catania.

The city
Catania is the second largest city of Sicily located on its eastern coast, facing the Ionian Sea and at the foot of Mount Etna. It was founded by the Greeks in 729 BC and it has a rich history, characterized by the Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Arab, Norman, Swabian, Angevin, Aragonese, Spanish dominations that you will be able to spot through its beautiful monuments. The city of today, mostly of the eighteenth century, is the result of the reconstruction, following the strong earthquake in 1693. A splendid expression of the Sicilian Baroque style, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
