The majestic discovery of the first source of high frequency gravitational waves, GW150914, and of four companion sources by the LIGO and Virgo Collaboration herald the birth of a new era of exploration of the Universe. 3C 186 is a powerful radio-loud QSO at z~1. Recently we found that its spectrum shows evidence for significant velocity offsets between the broad and narrow emission line systems.
