In any case you can follow the roadsigns to the center of the city and Prato della Valle. From Prato della valle see the map to reach the Astronomical Observatory.

To reach the Astronomical Observatory from the Padova railway station:
1. By taxi
Taxi cabs in front of the railway station ( Radiotaxi Padova http://www.taxipadova.it/home/). The trip is around 10 minutes (10 euros).
2. By bus or by metrobus
Bus stop in front of the railway station (APS Holding http://www.apsholding.it/simple/), tickets have to be purchased at the ticket office. Buses n. 3, 5 and 12 (http://www.fsbusitaliaveneto.it/index.php/offerta/orari-inverno-2015/orari-urbani-padova-e-linee-dei-colli-inverno-2015 ) stop in “Prato della Valle”. Turn to via S. Alberto Magno to reach the Specola tower.

Reaching a STAZIONE FS (Railway station, both Venezia Mestre or Venezia Santa Lucia) take a train to Padova (Trenitalia http://www.trenitalia.com/). The trip is around 30 + 20 minutes.
