The Italian scientific community dealing with extrasolar planets has been growing strongly in recent years, thanks to the extensive use of TNG, coordinated within the GAPS (Global Architecture of Planetary Systems) collaboration, participation in space missions such as Gaia, CHEOPS, PLATO, and Ariel, the scientific exploitation of instruments such as SPHERE, ERIS, SHARK-NIR and SHARK-VIS, JWST, ALMA and the close collaboration with the instrumentation teams for the development of new cutting-edge facilities. A comprehensive meeting for the entire Italian community working on this topic has been missing for many years. Now the time is ripe for meeting and discussing, to foster the collaborations, networking and synergies between the various expertises developed in our community, to bring together young researchers who are training and working on exoplanets in Italy, and above all to discuss future directions in this field of research for the Italian community, in terms of scientific priorities, organization and funding of research, technological and instrumental developments, role in the international context, role of universities in training researchers in this particularly young research field, interactions with related research fields such as astrobiology, astrochemistry, star formation, planetary science.
