Description

The Workshop is open ONLY to Euclid Consortium members

Euclid is going to be launch-ready by spring 2023, and hopefully actually launched not much further down the line. A call for Key Projects using actual Euclid data is forthcoming. This is excellent timing to start focusing on the scientific projects we would like to carry out with the Euclid data, as a collaboration, particularly in this case as part of the Galaxy and AGN Evolution Science Working group.

We will meet for 3 days that will be dedicated to the presentation of science projects, with a large space left for discussions and sub-group/topical parallel sessions. This will be along the topics defined by the SWG Work-packages, dealing with star forming and passive galaxies, galaxy morphology, lensing, environment, AGN, distant galaxies, etc etc. But also beyond, and discussion of further applications and science ideas is welcome.

The workshop will be held at Monte Sant'Angelo, Sala Azzurra in Naples, Italy on 14-16 September 2022.

NEW Agenda

Accommodation

We have a variety of accommodation possibilities in Naples, but please book early as middle of September is still "high season" in Naples. Every morning we will provide a shuttle leaving from Piazza Vittoria to the conference center and back from the conference center to Piazza Vittoria in the evening. We then suggest you to book your room within walking distance from Piazza Vittoria, a  beautiful front-sea area full of hotels, b&b/airb&b and restaurants..

You can also reach the conference center "Città della Scienza" by public transportation. Take the direct bus R7 from "Piazza Vittoria Riviera di Chiaia" towards "Bagnoli - La Pietra" and get off after 22 stops at "Coroglio - Città della Scienza". The ticket is 1.10 euros. You can download the App Unico Campania, available on Play Store and App Store , in Android and iOS version and use it to check the bus schedule, calculate the route and buy the ticket  after registering as new user.

Travelling to Naples

Reaching Naples is simple!

By plane: the Naples' international airport (Napoli- Capodichino, NAP), is located less than 6 km northeast of the city center, with direct international flights arriving and departing daily. There is a regular bus service (Alibus Shuttle) from the airport to the centre of the town. A one-way ticket costs 5euros and takes you directly to Piazza Garibaldi in just 15 minutes. Taking a taxy may be more expensive, but it's definitely the most convenient. The journey shouldn't take more than 12 minutes and will cost you a flat rate fee of ~20 euros.

By train: Naples' main train stations is called Napoli Centrale (or Piazza Garibaldi Station) and both Trenitalia (Italian national rail company) and private Italo trains arrive and depart from here.
