Description
Information provided by meteor observation may be used for various purposes, which together broaden our understanding of meteoroids, meteoroid streams, and their origin. In my talk I will demonstrate some difficulties with the search for a meteoroid‘s origin in or beyond the solar system. Interstellar meteoroids are identified by their hyperbolic excess velocities, but their heliocentric orbits are significantly influenced by meteor measurement errors. Such errors also cause problems when identifying members of minor meteor showers and their potential parent bodies.
