The MeerKAT Band 5B project aims to extend the frequency coverage of the MeerKAT radio telescope by installing 64 new cryogenic receivers on each MeerKAT antenna. These receivers will operate over the 8.3–15.4 GHz frequency range, corresponding to Band 5b of SKA-Mid.
This will enhance and enable relevant studies in cosmological surveys, galaxy formation and evolution, star formation and the...
In this presentation I will give a brief overview of the impact of MeerKAT in the scientific activities of INAF, based on the trend of the proposals submitted and accepted in response to the MeerKAT Calls for Proposals from 2019 to the present. I will then report on the MeerKAT+ developments with focus on the Italian contribution to the legacy survey programme.
In this presentation I will discuss the LOFAR 2.0 from an Italian perspective. A number of upgrades to the LOFAR telescope, collectively deemed LOFAR 2.0, are drastically increasing LOFAR performance, in particular the low-band antenna ability to deliver cutting edge science. LOFAR 2.0 upgrades show the long term investment and the large interest of the scientific community in the ultra-low...
The SKA Regional Centre network (SRCNet) is the federated, international layer that brings SKA data and analysis capabilities to researchers worldwide, providing access to data products, platforms near the data, and coordinated user support and training. Within this framework, we present SRC-Italy (INAF) as a node based on INAF computing and storage resources hosted and integrated within...
The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) relies on a network of regional centres, known as SKA Regional Centres (SRCs), to manage the vast amounts of data generated by the telescopes, and to provide the global scientific community with seamless access to processing and support services. Each SRC will contribute to this distributed infrastructure by offering data storage, high-performance computing,...
The SKA Regional Centres Network (SRCNet) is the sole interface between the SKA Observatory (SKAO) and the international scientific community. Within this framework, Science Delivery is a core service to support, enable and coordinate the delivery of SKA science, covering many aspects from the generation of science-ready data products to user support and community engagement.
In this talk, we...
