La lezione descriverà la storia degli studi dell’archeoastronomia nel campo della preistoria e della protostoria e la sua diffusione nel mondo dell’archeologia preclassica, dove l’assenza del supporto delle fonti scritte non ha permesso per lungo tempo la sua completa accettazione da parte della comunità accademica. Dalle prime ricerche sulla preistoria dell’Europa settentrionale, saranno analizzati i vari sviluppi degli studi specificatamente connessi alle metodologie di indagine e di interpretazione degli orientamenti astronomici riconosciuti nei complessi megalitici, specialmente quelli diffusi nel bacino del Mediterraneo fra il IV e il II millennio a.C.
The lesson will describe the history of study about archaeoastronomy in the field of prehistory and protohistory and its diffusion in the world of the pre-classical archaeology, where the absence of the support of the written historical sources did not permit for long time his complete recognition among the community of academic scholars. Since the first researches about the prehistory of Northern Europe, the development of the studies specifically connected to the methodology of investigation and interpretation of astronomical orientations identified in the megalithic complexes will be analyzed, with particular attention to the Mediterranean area from the 4th to the 2nd millennium BCE.
