Description

WINGS (Women IN GravitieS) aims to associate women involved in studies of Gravity & General Relativity with applications to Relativistic Astrophysics, Cosmology, Mathematics and Quantum Physics with the purpose of promoting research activities carried out in these fields by women.

The idea is to highlight women‘s contribution in areas of research that appear to be male oriented in the hope of overcoming the cliché of a cultural gender bias based on the female disinterest towards difficult subjects, i.e. the so called hard sciences, such as General Relativity and related issues, both from the theoretical side and the experimental one.

As a starting point we would like to propose WINGs as a qualifying appointment in any conference dedicated to gravity and fundamental physics and, therefore, to plan a scientific session to promote and give visibility to the research performed by women in the aforementioned fields. The consideration of intersectionality will be a key aspect to overcome various barriers that do not facilitate access to a scientific career as well as the consideration of the inclusiveness of different minorities.
