VObs.it organises, with the support of INAF Scientific Directorate's Central Units (USC-C) "Computing", a school dedicated to teach and promote Virtual Observatory tools and standards to the Italian national community. Tutoring will see VO dissemination experts from the OSCARS Astro-CC Cascading Grant project.
The Virtual Observatory (VO) provides ways of accessing and exploiting the huge amount of data provided by the ever-growing number of ground-based and space facilities.
This event is targeted, by preference, towards Ph.D students, postdoctoral, and early career researchers in the astronomy, planetary, and heliophysics fields, but is open to every researcher willing to learn or improve their knowledge of VO tools and ecosystem.
The participants will be exposed to the tools and services provided by the Virtual Observatory. Each tutorial will have a scientific application in mind.
The school, two and a half days, will be in presence only.
Due to room limitations, format of the school, and effectiveness of the teaching experience, participation will be limited to 25 students.
Registration opens on Monday 27th July 2026 at 12:00 CEST (and will close in mid October). Attendance priority will follow a first come first serve basis.
Participation beyond 25 people will be considered for a standby list and/or as a proxy to repeat the school as soon as possible. Tutorial materials will be anyway shared online.
