Routes, timetables and a travelplanner simulator for local transportation (regional trains and buses) around the Alto Adige can be found at https://www.suedtirolmobil.info/en/#/or on the mobile app.
Guest Pass
A Guest Pass, valid in the whole Alto Adige is avaiable for no additional cost to tourists, included in the tourist tax that is paid, per person and per day, for hotel lodging.
If interested, contact your Hotel Manager (see below the section "How to obtain the Guest Pass" for the details).
Careful use of the Guest Pass
The guest pass (a QR code) must be flashed whenever accessing a new vehicle along the route.
- For travelling on buses, it can be validated onboard.
- For travelling on trains, it must be validated at the machines available in the station hall, in the underground passages or at the platforms, but in any case before accessing the train.
Such validation must be repeated for each different train/bus used in connection.
Non-compliance will almost for sure lead to a ~100 € fine, as the personnel tends to be quite strict.
How to obtain the Guest Pass
Contact the Hotel Manager, provide some basic data and your Identity Card. Better the day before your arrival.
The Guest Pass can be activated by your Hotel Mangager already on the day of check-in, and sent to you by e-mail. It will cover until the check-out date included.
Advantage of the Guest Pass
Just to make an example, people reaching Sexten from Bolzano or Brennero with local transportation can exploit the Guest Pass already in the incoming trip and when leaving on their check-out date, to reach Bolzano without any cost and the need to buy specific tickets.
On top of this very basic utility, it can help you explore the whole Alto Adige in a very flexible and inexpensive way.
