Description
When low-mass X-ray binaries go into outburst, high resolution X-ray absorption spectroscopy enables accurate measurements of over a dozen elemental abundances in the wind. These abundances can then be compared with atmospheric abundances of the companion (donor) if available, and with supernova models of massive stars that may have left behind the compact object in the binary. The talk will discuss results from Chandra/HETGS and time permitting new ones from XRISM/Resolve.
