Description
M4 is the adaptive mirror of the E-ELT. Within the project, INAF is involved for the definition of the optical test concept and procedure and for the design of the test bench. The working group is composed by Arcetri and Merate, under a contract with AdOptica. The FDR of the optical system was successfully concluded in January with a positive review by the board. Together with the design of the optical test tower, we presented the error budget related to the optical measurements and the calibration procedures. In the next months we will start the procurement and assembly of the test facility; in parallel we will further assess some key-points of the optical test by means of laboratory activities. In this talk we will give an overview of the project status with a focus on INAF contribution.
