DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Salvatore Luigi Guglielmino (Istituto Nazionale di A
strofisica (INAF))\n\nFocus Meeting 3\, held during the IAU General Assemb
ly 2027 in Rome\n \nAbstract\nUnderstanding how magnetic fields connect a
nd interact across the solar and stellar atmospheres is a central challeng
e in modern astrophysics. The chromospheric–coronal interface is key to
explaining how energy and mass are transported\, stored\, and released in
these environments. This FM will bring together observers and modelers to
address the physics governing this complex region\, where magnetic restruc
turing\, heating\, and dynamic events originate. \nRecent advances in high
 -resolution spectropolarimetry\, coronal magnetic-field measurements\, and
multi-temperature spectroscopy now allow us to probe this interface with
 unprecedented detail\, linking fine-scale plasma dynamics to large-scale m
agnetic connectivity. Multi-vantage observations provide a global framewor
k connecting the interface to the solar wind and guiding the interpretatio
n of exoplanetary environments. With major active and upcoming facilities\
 , including DKIST\, Solar Orbiter\, MUSE\, Solar-C\, and the European Sola
r Telescope\, it is timely to synthesize progress and define future direct
ions in understanding chromosphere–corona magnetic coupling in the Sun a
nd other stars. \nKey Focus Meeting Topics\n\nRecent advances in spectropo
larimetric observations of the chromosphere and prospects for routine coro
nal magnetic field measurements (solar and stellar contexts)\, including n
ovel inversion techniques and their comparison and validation with numeric
al models.\nFundamental processes of coronal heating and solar wind accele
ration: observational evidence and numerical modelling\, and implications
for stellar winds in cool stars.\nThe role of magnetic connectivity in des
tabilizing the atmosphere\, flares\, eruptions\, and space weather in the
solar system and exoplanetary systems.\nThe chromosphere–coronal magneti
c connectivity as an interface between the dynamo and the interplanetary m
agnetic field.\nFuture developments in instrumentation and observational s
 trategies.\n\n \n\nhttps://indico.ict.inaf.it/event/3653/
