Sorvegliati spaziali - An innovative outreach project on Planetary Defense

Welcome to the first appointment with “A TUTTO SPETTRO”, a new monthly series of 1-hour web seminars dedicated to projects and topics in the field of Public Engagement of Science.

Abstract: ‘Sorvegliati Spaziali – conoscere lo Spazio per proteggere il Pianeta’ is an INAF project and represents one of the first coordinated public outreach initiatives on Planetary Defense: from near Earth asteroids and comets to space weather, from meteors and meteorites to space debris. The core of the project is an entirely graphic and multimedia website with information and in-depth content, available online since 20 October 2021, presenting Planetary Defense through a variety of original INAF information products as well as relaunching news from other research institutes. In this seminar, I will present the first phases of the project, both on stage and behind the scenes, among ideas, goals achieved and future challenges.

‘Sorvegliati Spaziali – conoscere lo Spazio per proteggere il Pianeta’ è un progetto dell’INAF e rappresenta una delle prime iniziative di divulgazione pubblica coordinata sulla Difesa Planetaria: dagli asteroidi e comete near Earth alla meteorologia spaziale, da meteore e meteoriti ai rifiuti spaziali. Il fulcro del progetto è un sito web di informazione e approfondimento interamente grafico e multimediale, online dallo scorso 20 ottobre, in cui la Difesa Planetaria viene raccontata tramite una varietà di prodotti divulgativi INAF originali nonché rilanciando anche news di altri enti di ricerca. In questo seminario illustrerò i primi mesi di vita del progetto, on stage e dietro le quinte, tra idee, obiettivi raggiunti e sfide future.
